How are rates calculated?

The rates are based on a 24 hour rental day starting with the hour you pick up the vehicle.

 

Will I be charged if I bring the vehicle back after the return time on the rental agreement?

Yes, you will be charged for each hour or part of an hour in excess of the time you were required to return the vehicle.  For correct fee’s, please ask at the rental counter prior to your rental.

 

What does base rate mean?

Base rate is the total cost of rental not including the taxes, fees, surcharges, mandatory coverage’s, mileage (if applicable) and optional items (child seats, navigational systems, additional driver, coverage’s, etc.).

 

How old do I have to be to rent a car from Elite Car Rental?

 The renter must be 23 years of age. Driver below 25 years will incur a young driver surcharge. 

 

How can I pay for my rental?

A credit card in the name of the renter will be required for a pre-autherisation for the total amount for your rental. Upon returning your vehicle, you may settle the your bill using alternative payment methods including cash, debit card or the same credit card used for the autherisation.

Your credit card will be kept on file to cover any additional charges that may appear after you return your vehicle. These charges can include penalty charges, speeding fines, parking tickets etc. By contract, the renter is responsible for the payment of these charges, plus administrative costs per violation.

 

Am I better off with an unlimited mileage or capped rate?

Sometimes the daily rate on a rental car with a mileage cap will be cheaper. If you are going to be driving fewer miles than the mileage cap allows (a typical cap is 10 kilometers per day). On the other hand, km bundle rates offer freedom from watching the odometer. Whatever your choice, it's best to calculate your costs ahead of time so you can take the least expensive approach that meets your needs.

 

Do you offer one-way rentals?

Yes, some locations do offer one way rentals. Rates and vehicle availability for one-way rentals can be obtained by calling our reservations office. See our contact us page for telephone numbers/email.

 

Do you offer cross-border rental?

No, You cannot take any vehicle outside Zimbabwe.

 

What Identification documents do I need to rent a vehicle?

If you are a foreign visitor to Zimbabwe, you will be required to present your full drivers licence (including any counter parts) and passport. For local residents, a drivers licence and ID card will be required. These documents will be required to be presented by ALL drivers of the vehicle if there is more than one driver. Without vaild indentification, your reservation will not be honoured and therefore cancelled.

 

Can I return my vehicle earlier than agreed?

In most cases, if your plans change, you are welcome to return your vehicle earlier than agreed without any additional rental charges. In some case, especially for long term negotiated rates, if its not in the pre-agreed contract agreement, you will incur additional charges if you do return your vehicle early.
